- 1). Choose a photo you wish to turn into a sepia tone. Wear your plastic gloves, and place the photo under running water for a few minutes, and then place it in a tray filled with bleach for up to two minutes.
- 2). Use your photo tweezers and take the photo out of the tray. The tweezers prevent smearing and fingerprints from ruining the photo. Run the photo under running water again. The image should appear faded.
- 3). Take another photo tray and pour the sepia tone solution into it. Immerse the entire photo into the solution and let it stand for two to three minutes. Rinse the print under running water again for about 20 minutes to rinse the solution off. Place the photo on a drying rack and leave it over night.
- 4). Check the photo the following day. See if it is the color you want. If not, repeat the process.
