How to Care for a Circus Rose Bush

    • 1). Provide 1 inch of water per week to the Circus rose. Water slowly with either a drip system, a soaker hose or a hose set to a trickle.

    • 2). Feed the Circus rose with a fertilizer labeled for roses. Fertilize in early spring and then again in early summer, following the instructions on the package.

    • 3). Rake the garden bed clean of any debris after fertilizing in the spring and spread a fresh, 3-inch layer of mulch on the soil, 2 inches away from the Circus rose's main cane and spread out to the widest part of the plant.

    • 4). Prune no more than 18 inches of new growth from the Circus rose, in late winter. Cut out old, dead and weak wood and any branches that touch or cross over others. Cut these back to their source of origin.

    • 5). Spray the Circus rose with an insecticide labeled for use on roses. Spray once a week, from spring until the end of summer. Re-apply the insecticide after heavy rainfall. Follow the label instructions as to rate and method of application.
