Fangtooth Herring Schools
- A school of fish is one of the types of pools that you will find in WoW. It appears as a swirling patch on the surface of water, which is clearly visible from land, and contains only a limited number of fish. If you wish to fish from these pools, your character must have achieved fishing skill number one. Fishing from these pools, while harder for character than fishing from open water, offers several advantages. The catch rates from school of fish pools are better than from open water, with a higher percentage fish being valuable catches. Pools also consistently provide the same number of fish, while the open water does not.
- Fangtooth herring are a variety of fish that you can catch, sell, buy and eat in WoW. With an item level of 70, fangtooth herring sell for 8 coins in the game. The varieties of fangtooth herring that you can purchase and consume include pickled fangtooth and spicy friend herring, both of which help to restore a character's health, stamina and spirit. Fishing fangtooth herring schools is the most effective way to catch these fish, although you can also find them in the inland and coastal waters of Howling Fjord and Grizzly Hill.
- You can find fangtooth herring schools in the inland and brackish water of WoW's Howling Fjord, which is located in the Northrend area of the WoW landscape. Each pool contains a maximum of five catches, and, in addition to fangtooth herring, you can catch pygmy suckerfish, sea turtles, blacktip sharks and dark herrings. Hovering your mouse over a pool will reveal its type.
- To fish a fangtooth herring school, you must cast your fishing line on or within the surface of the pool. When fishing, you should take into consideration the number of pools in the area of water and the proximity of these pools to one another. To catch a significant number of fangtooth herring, you will have to fish multiple pools because each one only holds a small number of fish. You must also consider enemy activity. Fishing and moving between pools puts your characters at risk of attack.
