How to Troubleshoot an iPod Docking Station Video to TV Connection
- 1). Determine if your iPod or iPhone can view photos or video. Test the file you want to view on the actual device before attempting to to connect it to the adapter.
- 2). Check that you have installed the correct dock adapter for your model of iPod or iPhone. The Universal Dock comes with eight different adapters. Make sure the adapter is snug. Insert the adapter into the dock and then the iPod or iPhone into the adapter.
- 3). Try to sync with your computer. If the dock and device are matched, when you connect the dock to your computer and iTunes is set to sync, the device should immediately attempt to sync with your computer. This step will indicate the dock and device are fully functioning together.
- 4). Take a look at the back of your television. Check that the dock is connected to the television. The connection requires composite AV cables or component AV cables. These need to be purchased separately as they do not come with the device or with the dock.
- 5). Make sure that the device and the TV are turned on.
- 6). Make sure that your iPod is set to send a video signal out to your TV. The devices all have different instructions for doing this, so check the user guide that came with your specific device. You can also download user guides at the Apple website (see Resources).
