Definition: A flier is an inline racer who uses a breakaway sprint to to separate themselves completely from the rest of the skaters in a race. The success rate of these breakaway attempts by fliers is affected by the length of the race as well as teamwork efforts among the chasers. Fliers usually attempt breakaways toward the end of a race as they sprint to the finish line.
