Is There Any Way to Reset an iTouch?

    Charging

    • Make sure your iTouch is properly charged before restarting your device. Many problems are easily solved by plugging in the device. Charging your device to solve hardware or software issues will eliminate the need for you to restart your device, which will prevent any undue data loss.

Resetting by Turning Off and Restarting

    • Turn off the iTouch by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button, located at the top of the device, for a few seconds. A red slider will appear on the screen. Slide the button and then press the Sleep/Wake button again. The Apple logo will appear as the iTouch switches on and loads.

    Full Restart

    • Press the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button, located at the bottom of the iTouch face. Hold both buttons for several seconds until the device restarts. The Apple logo will appear to indicate you have correctly restarted the device.

    Reset All Settings

    • To reset all settings, choose "Settings" from the Home screen. Select "General" then "Reset" and lastly "Erase All Content and Settings." This will reset the device, but it will also delete all the data you have inputted in the iTouch. Try the other measures first before resetting all settings to prevent data loss.

    Restore Factory Settings

    • Connect the iTouch to your computer and open iTunes. Select your iTouch when it appears in iTunes and select the "Summary" tab. Select the "Restore" option under the "Summary" tab. This will return the iPhone to the original factory settings, deleting your data. Try other measures before trying this method to prevent data loss.
