How to Attach Corrugated Metal Roofing

    • 1). Lay the corrugated metal roofing panel on the roof structure, lining up the edges of the metal roofing panel with the bottom and side edge of the roof. Put on work gloves prior to beginning work; corrugated metal roofing panels can have sharp edges that can easily cut through skin.

    • 2). Drive 2 1/2-inch galvanized deck screws through the metal panel and into the roof structure, using an electric screwdriver. Drive the screws about 1 inch from the edges of the panel, and about 12 inches on-center throughout the panel. Drive the screws only through the tops of the ridges of the panel to prevent water seeping between the panel and the screws.

    • 3). Lay the metal roofing panels adjacent to the panel installed in step 2, overlapping each panel by about 2 inches (or two ridges). Fasten each panel as in step 2. Cut any metal roofing panels to fit, using the circular hand saw and abrasive blade; refer to circular saw owner's manual for operating and safety direction and wear eye protection.

    • 4). Repeat the process to install additional rows of metal roofing panels, working your way up the face of the roof in horizontal rows and overlapping each previous row by about 6 inches.
