How to Maintain Pond Filters

    • 1). Clean the filter of algae, replace cracked or bent tubes and test the output for water quality. This is basic maintenance that should be done regularly to keep the system working.

    • 2). Move the filter to the proper place if it becomes dislodged. The filter should be above the water, with the purified water draining back into the pool from the top.

    • 3). Replace any charcoal or carbon once a month to prevent it from becoming worn out and letting toxins into the pond.

    • 4). Replace in the spring any biological filters, if you turn the system off over the winter season.
