A Figure Skater Does a Camel Spin

A camel spin is a figure skating spin that is done with the same body position as the spiral (arabesque).

Some say that figure skating coach, Jacques Gerschwiler, created the camel spin. His student, British figure skating champion, Cecilia Colledge, is known to be the first skater to perform the move.
When the camel spin was first invented, many skaters would make a hump with their rear ends. Their head and free leg would fall below the hips. That mistake caused the spin to eventually be called the "Camel Spin."
