How to Grow Your Betta Fast
- 1). Keep your betta in large tanks to give them enough room for respiration and for swimming or floating freely. A small tank limits their freedom, and their fins may get injured as they swim around.
- 2). Maintain water humidity in the container for the first three weeks of the fry. You can achieve this by sealing the tank with plastic wrap. Dry or cold air limits the growth of the cells and cause infections while the humid atmosphere helps with their development.
- 3). Change water frequently to maximize fish growth. Changing water once or twice a week is not enough to make your betta fish grow fast. This is because the fish excretes a hormone that reduces the growth potential of the small fish that are in the spawn. Start changing about 50 to 70 percent of the water per day when the fish are two weeks old and increase the percentage to 100 percent when they are older.
- 4). Provide your fish with the best variety of foods to improve their health and increase their size. The diet should contain proteins and high fiber. Examples of betta food include daphnia, mashed shrimp and bloodworms.
- 5). Avoid overfeeding your betta. When you give them too much food, they leave some which raises the level of bacteria in the water, which in turn can lead to bacteria infections and diseases.
- 6). Place each betta on its own container once they are grown because they enjoy being alone. Betta fish are also fighters and when kept with others, they can kill each other.
