Top 10 Women"s World Cup Ski Cross Racers- race6

Here's a look at the top ten women's World Cup Ski Cross racers in the FIS ranking order after the sixth FIS World Cup Ski Cross competition at Val Thorens, France on 1/17/14.
This sixth Ski Cross race of the 2014 season is the second consecutive day of Ski Cross competition in Val Thorens, France and it replaced a scheduled race at Bischofswiesen, Germany. Canada's Marielle Thompson showed why she is still atop the FIS World Cup Ski Cross rankings as she raced her way to a win after a fourth place finish in her previous outing.

Katrin Mueller of Switzerland was second under the wire and France's Ophelie David was third. A big surprise here was Sami Kennedy-Sim of Australia finishing in fourth - appearing in the first Big final of her career.

Ski Cross is a very physical, demanding and draining sport with continuing races following one upon the next until the final elimination round. This can make for short careers especially for the Ski Cross participants who have already had a World Cup Alpine racing career.

That said, Ski Cross is very fan friendly, exciting and often referred to as Motor Cross on skis. The Ski Cross athletes deserve full support of their respective countries to the same level as the athletes in the more established Alpine, Freestyle, Nordic and Ski Jumping disciplines. The top ten rankings, and indeed the number of state supported athletes pretty much reflects the attention paid to these athletes by their home countries.
