- 1). Place a crafting foam block onto a flat working surface and carve it into the shape of a crow's body using a sculpting knife. Look at a photo of a real crow if you need guidance. The most important aspects of the bird to carve correctly are the beak, the head and the tail.
- 2). Use black paint and a paintbrush to coat the entire crow body and allow it to dry for 24 hours. Additionally, cover a 3-foot long dowel rod in black paint.
- 3). Cut the bottom half of a 24-inch-by-6-inch sheet of black rubber in a crescent shape while leaving the upper half straight. This creates the wings for the crow.
- 4). Slice a thin, 6-inch long slot through the carved crow body with a large, sharp knife and thread the cut black rubber through. This forms the wings of the bird.
- 5). Stick the painted dowel rod into the bottom half of the bird's body to hold up the flying crow decoy. Insert the dowel rod into the ground to place the decoy.
