- 1). Turn the iPhone on and launch the game or application you want to use by tapping its icon on the Home screen.
- 2). Slide the "Ring/Silent" switch on the upper left side of the iPhone toward the back of the device. A small red mark will become visible on the switch and the device will vibrate to indicate it has been muted.
- 3). Hold down the "Volume Down" button on the upper left side of the device to manually reduce the volume if a particular application continues to make audible sounds despite the "Ring/Silent" switch being active. Games and applications must be specifically instructed to monitor the "Ring/Silent" switch in their software, which is occasionally omitted by the developer.
- 4). Continue to use the iPhone as normal while the device is muted. Slide the "Ring/Silent" switch toward the front of the device to unmute the iPhone when required. If you used the "Volume Down" button to mute the iPhone, hold the "Volume Up" button to increase the audio level again.
