Downloading Music to an iPod
- 1). Plug the iPod into the computer's USB port with the USB cable that came with the iPod device. Allow the computer to install the necessary drivers for the iPod device and click "Yes" to restart the computer if prompted.
- 2). Download and install the latest version of Apple's iTunes software from Apple's website. Run iTunes and complete the "iPod Setup Assistant" to successfully set up the iPod device. Click the "Finish" button to launch iTunes.
- 3). Click the iPod device in the column on the left side of the iTunes window. The main iTunes window will show the current contents of the iPod device. If there is no music currently on the iPod, the main window will be blank.
- 4). Click the "Library" button on the left side of the iTunes program to browse through all the MP3s that are currently in the iTunes library. Or click the "Browse" button in the upper-right corner of iTunes for a more in-depth way to view the computer's music files. If the iTunes library is empty, place a music disc into the computer's optical drive and click the "Import" button within iTunes to copy the music to the iTunes library.
- 5). Drag songs, albums or entire music genres from the "Library" or "Browse" functions onto the iPod device that's listed in the left column of iTunes. The program will copy these files to the iPod device. Once the files have been copied, click the "Eject" button and detach the USB cable from the iPod to safely remove the iPod from the computer.
