    The Labrador Retriever

    • Labs are sporting dogs that do best in active families or as hunting companions. Labs shed seasonally and can grow to 80 pounds in size. They can be yellow, chocolate, or black, but coat color does not affect a dog's ability or personality.

    • According to Just Labradors, labs of all colors rule the sport of "Big Air" retrieving, in which dogs take a running leap off a dock to catch a toy in midair. A black lab named Little Morgan held the world record for three years.
