Cocido

Definition: A stew, usually thick and based on meat. Cocidos vary from region to region, but every region of Spain has at least one type, if not more.

Pronunciation: co-see-do

Also Known As: olla, pote, guiso, guisado, estofado or escudella

Examples: Cocido Madrileño in English is "Madrilene Stew" and is named for the province of Madrid, where it originated.
