- 1). Connect your iPod to your computer with the white USB cable that came with the device.
- 2). Open iTunes. If you do not currently have the program on your computer, download it free from the Apple website.
- 3). Click on the name of your iPod in the left-hand toolbar.
- 4). Choose the type of sync you want from the iPod summary screen that appears. By default, the iPod will sync automatically. To sync the device manually, stop the current sync by checking the box just to the right of the sync status at the top of the screen. Uncheck the box next to "Sync iPod automatically," check the box next to "Manually manage music and video" and click "Apply."
- 5). Select the files you want to sync manually by checking the box next to each song or video in the iTunes library you want to add to your iPod. Click "Sync" in the lower right-hand corner of the library screen.
