How to Make a Boxy T-shirt Fitted
- 1). Cut off the T-shirt's neck band and the hems of the arms and the bottom. Cut just above the hemline on the arms and bottom so all the threads sewing the hem are cut off. Cut all the way around the neck band, below the stitching.
- 2). Lay the T-shirt flat with the back facing up.
- 3). Draw a vertical line straight down the middle of the back of the T-shirt. Use a marker for light shirts or a piece of white tailor's chalk for dark shirts.
- 4). Draw at least 10 horizontal lines all the way across the back of the shirt, intersecting with the vertical line down the middle. You can use a yardstick to make the lines straight, but this is not necessary.
- 5). Cut up the back along the vertical line, stopping 1 inch from the neckline.
- 6). Cut across the horizontal lines, stopping 1 to 2 inches from the side seams.
- 7). Pull on each horizontal strip to stretch the ties you've made. This will cause them to curl in on themselves, hiding the lines.
- 8). Put the T-shirt on and have a friend tie each horizontal piece to the horizontal piece directly across from it. The friend can tie the shirt as tightly as you like to make it fit your body.
