Keeping Your Little League Team Organized

Being a coach of a little league team of any sport can be so much fun and is an incredible rewarding experience.
Teaching and watching your team improve both as group and individually is an incomparable experience.
However, scheduling and staying organized can be quite difficult.
Unlike High School or higher sports teams you do not have an Athletic Director or even a secretary to keep practices and games on track.
It is just you and the parents pulling this championship bound team together.
Here are a few options to keep your schedules in check: 1) Distribute a calendar at the beginning of the year: This will work great but the flaws come when a practice gets canceled/moved or a game change happens.
Then it is up to you to call every parent and let them know the game plan for that day/week.
Also, the odds that the piece of paper gets lost or destroyed are very likely.
2) Create a website for your team: This is an excellent solution providing you have the skills and time to put it together.
3) Email out weekly/monthly schedules: Very effective but yet time consuming.
4) Sign your team up for an online calendar: This is my favorite option.
All you need to do is gather email addresses from every member's family, create a group, add your events, and you all set to go.
If you have a scheduling change just update it on the calendar and email alerts will automatically be sent out.
Just make sure that your team is checking the calendar regularly to stay up to date.
In my experience, I have found the shared online calendar to be the easiest and most effective way to manage little league schedules.
I hope you consider it to make sure your team doesn't miss a practice or more importantly a game.
