- 1). Attach the iPod Touch data cable to the bottom of your iPod Touch and connect the other end of the iPod Touch data cable to an available USB port on your computer.
- 2). Open the iTunes program on your computer.
- 3). Select your iPod Touch device from the list of "Devices" on the left-hand side of the iTunes window.
- 4). Click the Update bottom located in the center of the iTunes window. iTunes will search for an available update.
- 5). Confirm that you would like to back up your iPod Touch prior to performing the update.
- 6). Wait for iTunes to update your iPod Touch. When the process is complete, iTunes will prompt you that it is safe to remove the iPod Touch from the iPod Touch data cable.
