How to Convert Speaker Wire to RCA

    • 1). Pull apart the two leads of the speaker wire for a distance of two inches. Speaker wire consists of two separate insulated wires, or leads, that are attached to each other.

    • 2). Remove 1/2 inch of insulation from the end of each lead with a set of wire strippers.

    • 3). Unscrew the jacket from your RCA plug. RCA plugs have a tip and a collar that are plugged into the RCA jack. Behind the tip and collar is a removable jacket that covers two tabs, where the wires are attached to the plug.

    • 4). Slide the jacket onto the speaker wire, several inches down the wire, with the threads facing the end of the wire.

    • 5). Solder one of the speaker wire leads to the center tab on the back of the RCA plug. Solder the other lead to the outer tab. Slide the jacket over the soldered joints and screw it to the plug when the solder is cool.
