- 1). Open your "Music" folder, and then open the "iTunes" folder, followed by the "iTunes Library" folder.
- 2). Find the file that you want as a ringtone.
- 3). Click "Tools" and "Folder Options" in the drop-down option menu that follows.
- 4). Click one tab over to "View" in the new box that appears, and locate the "Hide extensions for known file types" line. Make sure this is checked,
- 5). Click "Apply" and head back to the file. Replace the word "aac" or "m4a" with "m4r."
- 6). Double click the file you've just renamed and it will open in iTunes. This will also now create a Ringtones tab on the left of the library.
- 7). Sync the iPhone like you normally would, but this time head to the Ringtones Tab on your iPhone menu when it pops up after plugging the phone in.
- 8). Select the ringtone you want to upload and then sync the iPhone.
