How to Troubleshoot the Canon ZR 200

    • 1). Recharge the battery pack if the camcorder won't turn on; the pack may be exhausted. Other problems related to an exhausted battery can be the camera switching off on its own, the cassette compartment not opening, and the viewfinder turning on and off.

    • 2). Charge the battery pack inside the home if you continue to have problems with the power. The battery pack won't charge properly below 32 degrees F. It also won't charge properly above 104 degrees F.

    • 3). Insert a cassette if the cassette icon flashes on the screen, signifying a cassette isn't loaded. Unload and reload the cassette if the message "Remove the cassette" appears because the camcorder has shut down to stop the tape being damaged. Re-seating the tape should correct the problem.

    • 4). Make a settings change if the tape is running but the image won't appear on the screen when you're in "Playback" mode by setting the "TV/Video" switch on the television to "Video."

    • 5). Switch "AV-DV" to the "Off" position if dubbing via the camcorder's DV terminal doesn't work when editing. Alsot try making this change if the image won't appear on the screen. Remember that some tapes are copy-protected, and no image when dubbing can be indicative of this. Look for copy protection designation labeling on the media you're dubbing from.
