How do I Install Windows XP on a Sata Drive Asus Motherboard?

    • 1). Check whether your motherboard uses an "nVidia" or "VIA" chipset. One easy way to tell is whether the motherboard's model name has "N" or "V" in it. "N" models are nVidia; "V" models are VIA.

    • 2). Insert the floppy disk into your computer.

    • 3). Open "My Computer" on your desktop and right click on the floppy disk. On most computers, the floppy disk drive is A. Select "Format" from the menu.

    • 4). Select "NTFS" in the "File System" section.

    • 5). Check the "Quick Format" option in the "Format Options" section and press "Okay."

    • 6). Insert the CD that came with your motherboard into the computer.

    • 7). Open "Drivers\SII3114" on the CD if you have an nVidia chipset and run the "makedisk.exe" program. Enter the drive letter of your floppy drive (most computers use A) and click "Extract."

    • 8). If you have a VIA chipset, open the "SERATA\VT6240\DRIVERDISK" folder and copy all the files in it to the floppy disk.

    • 9). Remove the floppy disk from your computer.

    • 10

Remove the motherboard CD from the computer and insert the Windows XP Installation disk.

    • 11

Restart your computer. The Windows XP Installer begins automatically.

    • 12

Press the F6 key when you see the message "Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver."

    • 13

Reinsert the floppy disk and select it on the driver-selection screen that follows. The Windows XP Installer proceeds normally after loading the drivers from the floppy disk.
