1985 Ford E-150 Specifications

    • As of January 2011, the Ford E-Series of full-size trucks, formerly known as the Econoline, has experienced four generations of production. The third production cycle, notable for introducing a truck-like chassis, had no changes during its time period of 1975 to 1991, apart from redesigned body parts. Thus the 1985 E-150, the half-ton version of the van, retained the specifications that the vehicle had possessed for the past 10 model years.

    Trim and Engine

    • The Ford Motor Company split the 1985 Ford E-150 into three trims: the base E-150; an extended-wheelbase version dubbed the E-150 Extended; and the E-150 Super, which had an extended wheelbase and a slightly taller build. Regardless of trim, the E-150 has an inline six-cylinder engine with a 4,917-cubic centimeter displacement, a 4-by-3.98-inch bore and stroke, and an 8.8-to-1 compression ratio. The engine pumps out 145 horsepower and 265 foot-pounds of torque, and it uses multi-point fuel injection for its fueling system.

    Transmission and Fuel Specs

    • The engine of the 1985 Ford E-150 is paired with a four-speed automatic transmission with an overdrive feature. Ford installed an 18-gallon gas tank on the base E-150 trim, while giving a 22-gallon gas tank to the Extended and Super.

    Physical Specifications

    • Inside, each 1985 Ford E-150 includes a front headroom of 41.5 inches and a front legroom of 39.5 inches. The van also has three doors, a 79.9-inch width and 15-inch wheels. Beyond these measurements, the '85 E-150 differs from one trim to the other. The base E-150 has a 186.8-inch length, a 79.2-inch height and a 124-inch wheelbase. The Extended and Super have larger measurements: sharing a 138-inch wheelbase and a 206.8-inch length, with an 80.1-inch height for the former and an 80.6-inch height for the latter.
