How to Get Rid of Black Felt Marker Stain on Clothes
- 1). Blot the stain with a clean paper towel. Avoid rubbing when trying to remove marker from fabric as this may only further spread the stain.
- 2). Place the stained area of clothing onto a clean cloth. This will prevent the marker from seeping through to the other side of the fabric.
- 3). Pour some rubbing alcohol onto a clean rag. Carefully blot the stain with the rag, switching to clean parts of the rag as the marker is lifted. Apply more alcohol to the rag, as needed.
- 4). Let the alcohol sit on the marker stain for about 30 minutes. Rinse the fabric with plain water.
- 5). Dab the stain with a clean rag and nail polish remover if the stain persists. Continue dabbing with clean parts of the rag, adding more nail polish remover as needed, until the stain has lifted. Rinse the clothing in plain water.
- 6). Apply a laundry pre-treatment spray such as Shout or Spray and Wash to the stained area of the fabric. Allow it to set on the fabric for about an hour.
- 7). Launder the clothing as usual. Inspect the clothing for any trace of the marker prior to putting it in the dryer. The heat from the dryer will set in the stain, making it nearly impossible to remove.
- 8). An alternative method is to soak the clothing in a bowl of milk until the milk starts turning black from the marker. Empty the bowl and refill it with fresh milk. Continue this process until the stain is gone. Wash the clothing as usual once the stain has been removed.
