Facebook Places Privacy Control in User"s Hands
The great social networking site, Facebook has recently launched a beta version of it's latest Facebook publisher tool.
With this tool, Facebook users can now decide who can see their different posts.
According a Facebook engineer, this idea was thought about as some people had posts that can be seen by everyone visiting their account.
However, there are also some posts that Facebook users would prefer to keep private and accessible to a selected few people.
Private updates like dates, parties, phone numbers and addresses are generally meant to be viewed only by close and near friends.
So the engineer states that with this Facebook tool, the tool will ask the user who they want to tell every time they make a post.
The answer to this question and to what is on the user's mind will determine which Facebook friends will be able to access not only the user's posts, but also pictures and videos.
All one has to do to access these privacy controls is to click on the lock icon that is found on down the right hand corner of the publisher page of Facebook.
Clicking this icon gives them a drop down menu with various options.
It is then up to the user to choose if their posts can be seen by everyone on Facebook or only to verified friends or to the friends of their existing friends.
According to an analyst, this new tool and upgrade will be a boon to people who tend to make funny and obscure posts on Facebook.
However before posting such posts, they have to ensure that the posts won't worry them in the future.
He added that the new privacy option in Facebook would be welcomed by all Facebook users.
The people who will like the tool the most are those who post posts that are not meant to be understood by people like their parents or employers.
With this tool, users are now prevented from embarrassment from bosses and family members, because of their posts.
However like all great things in life, there is a small drawback to this application.
The analyst states that to make sure that this Facebook tool works, Facebook users have to actually use the feature.
So generally people who have a tendency of posting risqy posts may not be so careful or particular enough to take some extra steps to make their posts private and unseen from others.
