- 1). Make sure that you have a 4G iPod. 4G's can have black-and-white or color screens, but do not play video. They have a clickwheel, which is touch sensitive for scrolling or for changing volume. It has four buttons along the top of the wheel and a fifth button in the center of the wheel.
- 2). Flick the hold switch on top of your iPod to the On position, then back to the Off position.
- 3). Hold down the select button in the middle of the click wheel and the menu button at the top of the click wheel for between six and 10 seconds. Do not press any other areas on the clickwheel while you do this.
