How to Update Garmin C340
- 1). In order to check for updates and connect your GPS device with Garmin, the Garmin Communicator Plugin is needed. Head to http://www8.garmin.com/products/communicator/ and press "Download." Press "Save File" on this download window, choose a location, and save the software to your computer.
- 2). Once the download has finished, launch the software by finding its download location, and opening the Communicator Plugin program.
Accept the standard license agreement and click "Next." Press the button one more time to begin the installation.
Once the install is complete, press "Done." This will launch your Internet browser to complete the process. The Garmin website should indicate that the plugin is installed. Press "Continue." - 3). Connect the USB cable to both the GPS unit and your computer. There may be a slight delay as your computer recognizes the device.
- 4). Once the Garmin website recognizes your C340 GPS, press "Find Map Updates." A list of available map updates will appear. You can read details about each by clicking "Learn More," or proceed to install by selecting "Add to Cart."
- 5). Keep your GPS connected to the computer. Once you checkout and pay for your selected map, it will download and install to your Garmin C340 device. This process may take up to 2 hours, and will complete your upgrade to the latest map.
