How to Handle the Scary Parts of Hemorrhoids - Part 1

There can be as many as 5 phases of scary, negative feelings that you will experience if you have hemorrhoids.
This is not based on some medical study but based on logic and personal experience.
You will find many articles about what causes hemorrhoids, what treatments to use to reduce and eventually get rid of the condition, and details about the types of surgery that can be used in very severe cases of hemorrhoids.
However, there are very few articles about how to live life and deal with the flood of negative feeling and emotions that attack us when we have hemorrhoids.
These scary moments of emotions are generally at their peak when we encounter the following 5 events:
  • The initial onset of the condition (Part I of this series)
  • The diagnosis by a doctor
  • The treatment process
  • The need for surgery
  • The post surgery and beyond
Initial onset of the condition (the symptoms stage) Remember what it was like the first time you vigorously strained to have a bowel movement and when you were through there was blood in the water or associated with the stool? Or perhaps there was a blood stain on the toilet paper? You probably thought it was gross and may have said to yourself "That was not good" but you chose to quickly ignore it.
You were hoping that this was a one time thing.
However, you continued to have problems with your bowel movements.
Blood continued to appear and you started to notice the pain, the constant itching, and perhaps a burning sensation.
You started to become worried that something was wrong and you began to deal with the embarrassing itch.
It was not something you could control and public activity started to make you nervous.
You might have also started noticing a stain on your under garment and that was not good.
Phase I emotions (in no particular order)
  • Concern and maybe a little frightened (first and future sightings blood)
  • Embarrassment (uncontrollable itching, stain on under garment)
  • Anxiety and fear (what is happening and how bad is it)
What to do Go to your Doctor and have them make a medical diagnosis.
Do NOT attempt to make a self diagnosis.
There are times that the symptoms associated with hemorrhoids could indicate a different problem.
Also, you should do this earlier than later so that you can begin treatment as soon as possible.
Summary If you start to experience the symptoms associated with hemorrhoids, go to your Doctor as soon as possible.
There is no reason to let the fear and anxiety build up.
Do not ignore the condition and do not diagnose your self.
And even as you read this remember that there is a way to handle your condition that could bring relief in 48 hours.
Not only relief but a cure.
