How to Enable a Remote Desktop Command

    • 1). Right-click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop. You can also open the Control Panel and select the "System" icon.

    • 2). Go to the "Remote" tab and make sure both of the check boxes are checked. This will enable users to connect to the computer remotely.

    • 3). Click on the "Start" button and choose "Run" from the list. Type "cmd" in the box to open a command prompt window.

    • 4). Type "ipconfig" and hit the "Enter" key. Write down the IP address of the computer--this is a series of four numbers between 0 and 255, each separated by a period, i.e. 20.69.75.150. You will need this number to connect to the computer remotely.
