The True Box-Office Winner - Avatar

Decades ago, James Cameron had made an extremely beautiful movie, Titanic, that grossed a record-high $1.
85 billion at the time in worldwide box office.
It was a huge success for him ever.
In fact after creating the movie, Cameron wants to create another great film that people cannot forget and that can surpass the income of an early movie, Titanic.
After a couple of years, the Avatar was created.
It is a science fiction movie about humankind's exploitation of another planet inhabited by aliens.
Avatar also holds the record for the fastest movie to reach a billion mark in box office around the world.
It only took 41 days for this movie to gross a billion dollars worldwide.
It broke hundreds of box-office records in many countries and is considered the highest grossing film in both Canada and the US just 47 days after its release.
Obviously, it is no secret for many movie goers what makes Avatar a champion in the box office.
After considerable negative predictions that it would be just another disappointment at the box office, this movie even surpassed the highest expectations of the viewers in a very significant manner.
Some movie critics considered Avatar as the holy grail of 3-D.
In terms of awards, Avatar had garnered 9 Academy nominations that include Best Director and Best Picture.
Among its awards include Cinematography, Visual Effects, and Art Direction.
It also received two foreign awards in the UK by getting Best Special Visual Effects and the Best Production Design awards.
Financially, Avatar was also a super success in a worldwide scale considering the ongoing recession in the US and in many countries.
While the film has a huge budget of over US $500 million, its gross earnings more than doubled the profit of the producers.
Released during the holiday season, the movie had all the attention it deserved as it had no considerable competition in thousands of theaters around the world.
Additionally, the movie was also a pioneer in 3-D technology creating curiosity in millions of moviegoers worldwide.
Although the tickets were a bit higher, sales still reached phenomenal proportion due to these two factors.
Many critics thought it was part of the general strategy of Cameron to release the film during the holidays to ensure maximum public viewing.
In a global scale, about 75% of the total earnings of Avatar come outside of the US.
Cameron is said to be planning two sequels for Avatar in coming years.
Naturally, with such highly successful original film, the future sequels will have a secure base of success.
Keep watching for new release movies in the event Avatar's sequels will hit the screen again.
