How to Make Your Computer Boot Up Using the CD ROM Instead of the Floppy

    • 1). Shut down your computer and wait until it powers off. Press the power button to restart the computer.

    • 2). Watch the screen carefully until you see a "Press the 'X' key to enter setup." The key used to enter setup varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. HP computers typically use the "F2" or "F10" key, while Dells often use "F1" or "F12." Press the appropriate key as soon as you see the message.

    • 3). Use your right arrow key to navigate into the "Advanced" menu. Scroll through the list of options until you see "Boot Order." Use the arrow keys to move the CD-ROM drive to the top of the boot order.

    • 4). Slide the arrow all the way to the left and choose the "Save changes and exit" option. The computer will exit setup and continue the boot process.
