How to Draw Pretty Borders
- 1). Draw the lines of your border using a ruler to keep them straight. The width of the border from all four edges of your paper depends upon how thick you want the border to be. Use your ruler to ensure the border with is consistent on all four edges of your paper.
- 2). Draw a diagonal line in each corner of your border to create the illusion of a picture frame. Add shading along the length of the diagonal line to create an illusion of depth. Use your imagination to create a pretty border.
- 3). Draw a design the edge of your paper and the line that creates your border. What you draw depends upon what type of border you want. Try drawing geometric shapes, such as squares, triangles and circles. Shade around the edges of these shapes to give them depth. Alternate the shapes and place them around the entire border.
- 4). Draw the outline of a simple, pretty flower in the corners of your border (a circle with petals around the perimeter) and add shading to give it a 3D effect.
- 5). Color your border with colored pencils or markers.
