How to Create a Band Logo for Free

    • 1). Download free fonts and install them in your word processor. Many band logos are simply the band's name in striking lettering. Write your logo in a font that appeals to you, or use that font as an inspiration for your own hand-drawn lettering.

    • 2). Think of a simple image that would convey what your band is about. For example, my band, the Stumptown Jug Thumpers is a jug band, so we incorporate the image of a jug in our logo. This draws a connection in people's heads between our name and an image representing what we do, making us more memorable.

    • 3). Look at old, public domain images. Medieval woodcuts, old magazines and pamphlets, propaganda posters and early comics are all wonderful sources of images, many of them in the public domain. Even if you can't draw what you want your logo to be, you may be able to find an image you can alter.

    • 4). Scan whatever image you are using into your computer. Use an image program to render it in one or two colors. A simple color scheme will be cheaper to print and will make a stronger impression.

    • 5). Combine the band name and the image. You can simply add the name under the image or use the picture as a background.
