How to Add Front USB Ports With Empty Headers on Motherboards

- 1). Remove all cables connected to the computer to make the job easier.
- 2). Face the front of your computer and lay it on its right side.
- 3). Unscrew the screws attached to the edge that now faces topside. These screws hold the case cover in place.
- 4). Push the case cover towards the rear of the unit and lift the cover off.
- 5). Look for a cable with separate wires labeled "USB." Look for a connector on the motherboard in the computer labeled "USB." Notice how it looks like the connector's missing a pin. Look under the cable for the "missing pin." Align these missing pins with each other and connect the cable to the motherboard port. Repeat this process if you have more than one USB cable.
- 6). Reassemble your computer and reconnect its cables. Turn the computer on and plug a USB device to it once the operating system loads to test the port.
