Make your own creative wedding reception table decor items using gel wax and candle holders or other decorative vessels. Transparent gel wax can be mixed with fragrance oils, colorful dyes and decor items to create a personalized look. Prior to making the candle crafts, melt the gel wax in a pot or an oven; use a candy thermometer to ensure that the wax has been heated to 225 degrees. - Create inspired table decor for a beach-themed wedding reception. Start by gluing a metal-based wick to the bottom of a round clear glass candle holder. Place a layer of sand and small seashells into the holder. Fill the candle holder halfway with light blue heated gel candle wax and allow it to firm up. Place another layer of small seashells on top of the set wax. Finish the project by pouring more gel wax over the seashells, leaving 1/2 inch of the top of the holder empty.
- Create romantic table decor using elegant champagne and wine glasses. Champagne gel candles are created by pouring heated amber-colored gel wax into a crystal champagne flute; the wax bubbles will create a realistic look. Deep purple-colored gel wax can be poured into wine glasses to create customized table decor. The glasses and flutes can be enhanced with charms or ribbon-wrapped stems. Place one glass by each place setting; guests can take them home as wedding favors.
- Make gel candles to coordinate with a country-inspired wedding decor theme. Fill vintage glass canning jars with heated yellow gel wax and colorful marbles or small ceramic fruit-shaped pieces for a charming look. Light pink gel wax will look fresh when combined with flower-shaped paraffin wax pieces.
- Add a touch of glamour to wedding reception tables with gem-enhanced gel candles. Start with antique crystal candle holders as an elegant touch. Heated clear gel wax can be layered with colorful glass gems, silver or gold glitter, faux pearls, crystals or polished stones.
