How to Install a Humminbird Depth Finder
- 1). Choose a location near the pilot's seat to mount the depth finder display unit. Pre-drill holes for the bracket using a drill and the appropriately sized bit.
- 2). Attach the mounting bracket using a screwdriver and the screws supplied with the depth finder.
- 3). Connect the feed wires to the back of the display unit according to the depth finder's instruction manual. Usually this is a simple matter of connecting matching colored wires.
- 4). Run the hot wire to the battery, but wait until the job is complete before attaching it. Run the ground wire to the grounding shoe and attach it.
- 5). Hide the wires along the hull so they are not easily seen. This will produce a much cleaner looking job.
- 6). Connect the transducer to the transom and make certain the transducer is pointed straight down. Pre-drill any holes needed for mounting.
- 7). Run the wire from the transducer up to the display unit and attach it securely in place.
- 8). Apply a dab of waterproof silicone caulk to screws that will come in contact with the waterline or be submerged.
- 9). Attach the wire you ran to the battery and test to make sure the display comes on.
