How to Rip a DVD With Magic DVD Ripper

    • 1). Insert your DVD into your computer's disc drive and launch Magic DVD Ripper. Click the "Source" drop-down box on the left side of the screen and select your DVD from the list of hard drive options.

    • 2). Click the "Convert" tab on the right side of the screen. Click the "Title" drop-down box in the Input field and choose the longest title available. This is generally the feature-length movie. To convert other titles, like extra features, click the "Multiple Titles" option from the "Title" menu.

    • 3). Choose a preset output option from the "Profile" drop-down box on the right side of the screen. Adjust specific parameters for your output by clicking the "Profiles" tab at the top of the screen and selecting "Profile Editor."

    • 4). Click a profile from the "Profile List" on the left side of the screen and click "Modify." Change the resolution by manually entering the desired height and width of your video in either the full-screen or wide-screen fields, depending on whether your DVD is in full-screen or wide-screen (see Warnings).

    • 5). Choose a "codec" or compression type for your video from the "Video Codec" drop-down menu at the bottom of the screen. Click "OK" to return to Magic DVD Ripper's main screen.

    • 6). Click the "Destination" drop-down box on the left side of the screen to choose a save location for your converted video. Magic DVD Ripper will automatically show you the amount of free space on your hard drive, as some DVD exports, depending on your output settings, may be large.

    • 7). Press the "Start" button to begin the conversion. Track its progress with the timeline at the bottom of Magic DVD Ripper's screen by watching the Elapsed Time and Time Remaining fields.
