How to Clean a Propane Grill
- 1). Raise the grill cover to expose the cooking surface.
- 2). Scrub the grill grates with the wire grill brush so debris drops into the grill. Remove the grates and set aside.
- 3). Remove the lava rocks or ceramic briquettes inside the grill and set aside. These will be cleaned later.
- 4). Sweep up all dirt and debris inside the grill into the dustpan, using the whisk broom.
- 5). Spray cleaning solution on the propane burners and outside of the grill, then wipe down with paper towels.
- 6). Replace the lava rocks or ceramic briquettes so they are in an even layer inside the grill. The rocks or briquettes should not be stacked on top of one other. Set the cooking grates back on the grill.
- 7). Ignite the grill and adjust the burner control knobs to the "High" position for maximum flames. Close the grill lid and heat the lava rocks or briquettes for 10 minutes to burn off any grease or food residue. Shut off the girll and let it cool down completely.
- 8). Pour a tablespoon of cooking oil onto a wad of paper towels and wipe the surface of the cooking grates until they glisten.
