How to Refinish Shiny Brass Lighting

    • 1). Remove and/or cover as much of the non-brass material as possible. The idea is to remove as much as you can and cover the rest with a low-stick painter's tape. The natural cleaner will not harm other parts of the fixture, but it will require cleanup after you're done.

    • 2). Wipe down the metal to eliminate any dust or grime, using a clean rag soaked in hot water. If the fixture has any intricate carvings or etchings, use a toothbrush or toothpick to gently scrape these areas clean as well.

    • 3). Pour 2 tsp. of lemon juice and 2 tsp. of white vinegar into a cup. Add in baking soda until it creates a gritty paste.

    • 4). Dip a corner of a clean rag into the cleaning paste. Scrub the brass until the tarnish is removed. Rinse the cleaner off with a separate cloth soaked in warm water.
