How to Naturally Clean Fire Door Glass

    • 1). Remove as much of the soot from the door as possible. Wet a piece of newspaper and dip it into the warm ashes of the fireplace. Cleaning the fireplace while it is warm works best, so start this project when the fireplace is warm to the touch.

    • 2). Rub the newspaper and ash over the door glass. Notice that the loose soot will easily wipe away. This will effectively remove loose residue from the door without scratching the glass.

    • 3). In a spray bottle, mix 2 cups warm water with 1 cup of distilled white vinegar. This cleans effectively without leaving streaks. The white vinegar will also disinfect and deodorize the surface, making it the perfect cleaner for any glass surface. If you do not have vinegar on hand, substitute 4 spoonfuls of liquid dish detergent, which will work just as well.

    • 4). Spray the solution onto the door. Wipe clean with a cloth or paper towels. Repeat as needed until you are pleased with the result. Use this solution when needed to keep the fire door glass clean and free of residue or film.

    • 5). For resistant buildup, sprinkle a handful of baking soda on damp paper towels. This is a non-abrasive cleaning agent that will scrub away any tough residue. When finished, wipe clean with a damp cloth or paper towels.
