How Do I Replace the Top Lid on an Acer Aspire 5100 Laptop?
- 1). Purchase the laptop lid from an online source or local retailer. Online computer parts usually offer lower prices, so shop around to find the best price.
- 2). Unplug the power cord and then remove the battery. Allow the computer to sit for about 5 minutes.
- 3). Open the laptop screen and locate the four rubber stoppers around the outside. Pry the stoppers off and then remove the screws that are underneath. Tape the screws to a piece of paper and mark them as "Front outside screws."
- 4). Gently pry the bottom of the cover off and remove it completely. This will expose the inverter board located at the bottom of the LCD screen. Remove the four screws at the bottom of the LCD screen. Tape them to the paper and mark as "inverter board."
- 5). Carefully separate the lid cover from the screen. Remove the lid and replace it with the new lid that you purchased.
- 6). Snap the lid together with the screen. Replace the "inverter board" screws at the bottom of the LCD screen. Return the front plastic cover and attach the screws. Place the rubber covers back in the holes on top of the screws.
