- 1). Power on your laptop.
- 2). Press and hold the "Fn" key, along with the screen brightness keys. Depending on the make and model of your laptop, screen brightness keys could be different. Typically, the "F5" or "F6" key lowers the screen brightness and "F7" or "F8" key increases the brightness. On some models, screen brightness keys could be the up or down arrow keys that are to be pressed while holding the "Fn" key. In that case, up key will increase the screen brightness and down key will lower the screen brightness. Screen brightness keys can also be located by looking for the sun symbol on the keyboard keys.
- 3). Click the "Start" button on the lower-left-hand corner of the desktop. In the search box, type "Adjust screen brightness" and then the Enter key. Move the screen brightness slider on the bottom of the screen to adjust the lighting on your laptop. Move the slider to the right side to increase the brightness and to the left to decrease the brightness.
