Insects on Honeysuckle Leaves

    Aphids

    • The potato aphid is the primary aphid attacker of honeysuckle. This soft-bodied insect comes in a variety of colors, including pink, green and pink, or light green with dark stripes. These creatures weaken plants by drinking liquid from blossoms, stems and veins.

    Scale Insects

    • Scale insects may also infest honeysuckle plants. The most common scale insect pest is the greedy scale, a brownish insect that can look like a fungal infection. This insect generally will not significantly damage plants, but can weaken them.

    Caterpillars

    • The genista caterpillar, a web-producing caterpillar about 1 inch long, may consume honeysuckle leaves. It produces two generations per year in warm climates and can significantly defoliate plants, reducing their ability to produce food.
