How to Clean Glue Residue Off of Wood Floors

    • 1). Boil a half-gallon of water in a tea kettle. Trickle the boiling water down onto the glue residue. Boiling water softens glue residue for simple removal.

    • 2). Scrape the softened gunk off the wood using a thin-bladed scraper. Apply light force to the scraper and follow the wood's natural grain. Detach as much glue residue as possible.

    • 3). Wipe up the moisture and dissolved glue using paper towels.

    • 4). Inspect the wood for glue residue. If stubborn glue residue persists, drench a cloth in mineral spirits.

    • 5). Rub the drenched cloth over the glue until the sticky gunk detaches from the wood. Use the scraper if the glue is stubborn.

    • 6). Blot the floor with clean paper towels to absorb the mineral spirits.

    • 7). Sweep up any bits of loose glue using a broom.
