How to Make Crafts With Scrap Jewelry
- 1). Cut a 4-inch-wide strip of fabric, 4 to 6 feet long. Dark velvet fabric is a nice background choice, as it showcases the metal and rhinestones in the scrap jewelry. Whatever type of fabric you select, make sure that it is a solid color. The fabric is for covering a wreath frame, so the length is not an issue. You can use shorter lengths and piece the fabric as you go.
- 2). Apply spray adhesive all around one section of the wreath form. A straw or foam wreath form works best for this project.
- 3). Pin the end of the fabric strip to the back side of the wreath form where you have sprayed. Wrap the fabric around the form, overlapping the edges as you go. Press the fabric smoothly onto the adhesive-covered area. Stop wrapping when you reach the edge of the adhesive.
- 4). Spray another section of the wreath form with adhesive. Hold the wreath by the fabric-wrapped section and continue to cover the wreath in fabric. Continue until the wreath is entirely covered.
- 5). Insert another straight pin into the end of the fabric wrap. If the wrap ended at the front of the wreath, you can camouflage it with the scrap jewelry.
- 6). Cut an 8-inch length of 1/4-inch wide ribbon. Tie the ribbon in a loop around the top of the wreath to make a hanger.
- 7). Cover the front and sides of the wreath form with scrap jewelry. Broaches can be attached with their own pins. Earrings rings, necklaces and bracelets can be attached with straight pins or hot glue. Drape the necklaces and bracelets so that they follow the shape of the wreath, and fill in with the remaining scrap jewelry.
