The Electric Dog Training Collar - How It Works

Dogs need to be trained.
Any person who goes ahead and buys one as a pet, needs to know that it is their responsibility to provide this training.
It does not have to take a lot to train a pet and some dogs are just well behaved to begin with.
No matter what the case, there are various training tools and products available you can work with.
These are going to ensure you get the best results when training your pet and one of these is the electric collar.
The electric dog training collar has had a lot of controversy surrounding it since it first hit the market a few years ago.
Some people thought it worked very effectively and enjoyed using it to train their dogs.
Other owners thought it was a form of punishment and that it was unnecessary cruelty being used on animals.
The electric dog training collar looks pretty much like a regular collar, only there are two stainless steel probes poking out from it.
These must be in direct contact with the dog's skin in order to work.
The collar is available from a number of different manufacturers and you can even decide what fun color you want to purchase it in.
Will It Hurt My Dog? So the biggest issue that owners have is whether or not this collar is actually going to hurt their pooch.
The simple answer is no, it is not going to hurt your dog.
It does use an electrical shock to scare them but the jolt is not enough to actually cause any damage.
The real issue is whether or not you want to use this sort of a scare tactic on your pet.
There are other collars that are similar but which do not use such an intense scare tactic to defer the pet from barking.
For instance there is the citronella training collar which is similar to the electric training collar only it uses a simple spray of citronella to stop the dog from barking, rather than an electrical shock.
Every owner is different and it really all depends on how you feel and what you feel is too much when it comes to training your dog.
There are lots of great options out there and regardless of whether you opt for the electric dog training collar or not, the most important thing is that you are taking the time to properly train your dog and have them be well-behaved.
