Pomegranate Stain Removal From Carpet
- Time is not your friend when it comes to removing pomegranate stains from carpet. The longer the stain remains on the carpet, the more difficult it is to remove. Any pieces of pomegranate need to be picked up immediately, and cold water mixed with dishwashing liquid needs to go on the stain first, no matter what method is used to treat the stain.
- When using a product like Oxiclean, always follow the directions on the label. Oxiclean's website recommends using the remover powder over the spray solution for all types of fruit stains on non-wool carpet. Never saturate the carpet with cleaning solution. Remember that you can always add more solution later, and only apply it to the stain. Always allow the cleaner to set in for around five minutes before blotting it with a clean white cloth, and never let it dry.
- Some people prefer to use common household items for stain removal, rather than using chemical-based cleaners. For this stain-removal method, you will also begin the process by cleaning up any pieces of fruit and applying the mixture of cold water and dishwashing detergent. Remember to use a blotting motion, rather than smearing it into the carpet.
After blotting, rinse the stain with white vinegar. You might have to repeat the process up to five times to get the stain out completely, so just have patience and keep working at it. When the current white cleaning cloth turns red from the pomegranate juice, use a new one. - If all the above cleaning techniques do not work, try an additional method using a mix of one tablespoon of ammonia with two cups of warm water. Before using any unfamiliar cleaning products, test it out on another inconspicuous piece of carpet first to ensure it doesn't discolor your carpet color. You might need professional assistance if the stain has set in for too long, but the majority of these cleaning methods will work.
