- 1). Pre-wash and dry your fabric.
- 2). Trace or draw a design onto the fabric using a fabric marker. If you have a light box, place the design on the box with the fabric over top of it, drawing directly onto the right side of the fabric. If you do not have a light box you can tape the design and the fabric securely to a window during daylight. Alternately, if you decide to go for a less precise look, you can draw freehand directly onto the fabric.
- 3). Color your design either using regular crayons or crayons intended to be used on fabric. Color as darkly and solidly as possible.
- 4). Place your colored fabric between two sheets of paper towel. Set your iron to the "cotton" setting and press it over the paper towel. Remove the top paper towel and replace with a clean sheet. Repeat this step until the crayon wax stops transferring to the paper. If the design is not as dark as you'd like it, re-color it and repeat the ironing steps.
